Networking has always been one of the most powerful tools for finding a job and today we will delve into why, during the COVID-19 crisis, networking should be one of your first 'go-tos' for finding, maintaining and developing throughout a job.

We will look at:

  • Hidden job market;
  • How to network during a lockdown;
  • Creating a value proposition;
  • The importance and effectiveness of LinkedIn;
  • Q+A on Zoom

[LinkedIn will be delivering an Employer Insights session later in the week to provide further insights into how to rock your profile!]

If you are unable to make this session, you can register anyway and we will send you the recording afterwards.

About Fireside Discussions

The Career Fireside discussion series allows UQ's Career Advisors to directly address the issues that students are asking questions about right now at a set time each week – Tuesday @ 11am. This will provide a platform for students to seek advice on a topic that resonates with them, to ask their questions in a safe environment and gain support through shared experience with other students.

Our first six weeks of discussions address some of the burning questions that students have right now:

  • How do I find a job in these times?
  • Importance of networking right now?
  • Should I be considering unpaid work?
