What is National Student Volunteer Week?

National Student Volunteer Week (7 -13 August) acknowledges and celebrates student volunteers and promotes volunteering to students and young people across Australia.

The theme for 2023 is Give. Grow. Belong which taps into a generation who are more socially conscious than ever before.  Rather than stand idly by, students around Australia are committed to getting involved with causes they believe in to contribute to positive change.

At UQ we have a large number of volunteers and joining the national campaign to celebrate their hard work.

Throughout the week UQ will be giving students a range of opportunities to meet volunteering-involved organisations, celebrate their fellow volunteers, and most importantly have fun getting involved!

UQ alumnus Tara O'Kane is supposed to be starting her new career in London – but the coronavirus had other plans. Instead of feeling sorry for herself, O'Kane has decided to use this time to help others by co-founding a grocery-delivery service.
