About Me

Hi, my name is Frank, and I’m currently embarking on my honours year in psychology. Originally from northeastern China, I’ve been living in Australia for over seven years, and it’s become a place I proudly call my second home. Living with ASD has taught me the significance of robust social and family support, maintaining physical health, and practising effective self-management. These elements have been crucial in enhancing my wellbeing. Embracing my cultural heritage while striving to be a global citizen has provided me with a rich perspective that I bring into my academic and personal life. My journey has been one of balancing and integrating diverse cultural insights, which has deeply influenced my approach to psychology. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the challenges faced by Asian communities in Australia, particularly around stigma and accessing efficient healthcare. Witnessing these struggles intensified my commitment to psychology, motivating me to work towards breaking down barriers to healthcare and support for all, especially within culturally and linguistically diverse communities. As part of the UQ Wellbeing advisory representative group, I am eager to contribute my voice and experiences to foster an inclusive environment. My vision is to advocate for a campus culture that respects and celebrates diversity, ensuring every student’s wellbeing is supported. Through this role, I aim to bridge cultural gaps, encourage dialogue, and promote practices that enhance mental health and wellbeing across our university community.
