Semester 1 is far from ordinary and with the global challenge that COVID-19 poses for our communities, we will ensure that our community can still come together physically and remotely.

What's on?

Every year on March 31st we celebrate International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) as a way to honour and celebrate our transgender students, staff, friends and families.

The UQLife Virtual Village is a new initiative led by student volunteers and Alumni that aims to bring your everyday connections into one platform, where you can continue to live your everyday with limited impact. So we invite you all to join our village from Wednesday 1 April and start working on building those connections once again, and find confidence in your #uqlifeonline.

  • Ever wondered who it is that answers the phone when you call the Student Support hotline? UQLife caught up with Meg Stegeman from the Student Relations Network to get the skinny on what it's really like working in the UQ Contact Centre and responding to all the coronavirus enquiries.
  • Isabelle undertook a Summer Research Program in 2017 that led to her contributing to a published article in the peer-reviewed US-Japan Women's Journal. Her experiences gave her the confidence and drive to not only undertake a semester exchange to Tokyo, Japan, but also to undertake further research and translation projects.
  • You Only Live Once (YOLO) so make it count! This is exactly what UQ PhD student Shelley Viskovich and UQ Professor Ken Pakenham have done in developing their new program YOLO! YOLO is a free online program and the brain-child of Shelley and Ken, based on the latest research in positive psychology and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The program consists of four short 30-40 minute modules over four weeks and is available to all UQ students for free.
