Dr Troy McGowan is an Australian-trained periodontist with more than a decade of experience across clinical dentistry and health leadership. Troy spent the first 13 years of his career in the RAAF.  Holding the position of senior dental officer, specialist career advisor and commanding the RAAF field hospital on exercise. During the global COVID- 19 pandemic he managed the multidisciplinary health centre at one of Australia’s largest operational air bases.  As well as his time in the ADF Troy has worked in both the public and private dental sectors both as a dentist and periodontist. Troy is currently the Executive General Manager – Clinical Excellence for Pacific Smiles Group where he is responsible for practitioner development and support, clinical governance and driving high quality clinical outcomes across PSG’s 130+ dental clinics. He holds honorary academic positions with both the University of Queensland and Central Queensland University and has published several articles in peer-reviewed dental journals.

 

Dr Jay Hsing is a general dentist, educator, and advocate for volunteering in dentistry.  Alongside his work in private practice, Dr Hsing has been teaching at UQ’s School of Dentistry since 2008 and has been a dental volunteer with the Tzu-Chi International Medical Association since 2006.  Additionally, he has volunteered with the ADA Dental Health Foundation, Esesson Foundation, and Homeless Connect. Since 2019, Dr Hsing has served as a Director of the Australian Dental Association, Queensland Branch (ADAQ).  In 2021, he played a key role in establishing the Volunteering in Dentistry Committee within ADAQ and continues to serve as its inaugural Chair.  He is in his second year as ADAQ President. In recognition of his contributions to the dental profession and community, Dr Hsing has been awarded fellowships in the International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the Academy of Dentistry International.

 

Mitchell Stalker oversees health and service planning, co-design, and organisational or program review projects for a variety of clients. He is driven to address complex challenges in systems, organisations, programs, and services, aiding decision-makers in making well-informed choices that lead to positive impacts. Mitch focuses on projects that need careful stakeholder management, ensuring outcomes are embraced by all partners. With a strong background in the government, NGO, community, and primary care sectors, he is skilled in collaborating with CEOs and senior executives in a service and commissioning context.

 

Dr Louise Conwell is a Senior Staff Specialist (Eminent) in Paediatric Endocrinology at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, Brisbane (Children’s Health Queensland) and Associate Professor, Head of Children’s Health Queensland Clinical Unit, Greater Brisbane Clinical School, Faculty of Medicine, University of Queensland.

Louise is a graduate of the University of Queensland and trained in paediatrics at the Mater Children’s Hospital, Brisbane. She then trained in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane while completing a PhD at the University of Queensland. She undertook a post-specialty Clinical Fellowship at the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, The Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She has also completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education (University of Dundee, Scotland).

Louise has expertise in Congenital Hyperinsulinism and other beta-cell disorders. She is the outgoing co-chair of the Intersociety Clinical Guidelines Committee of the International Consortium of Paediatric Endocrinology. She is a co-author of the recently published International Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Hyperinsulinism. Louise is a Council member of the Congenital Hyperinsulinism International Collaborative Research Network and has engagement with stakeholder groups, particularly Congenital Hyperinsulinism International. Her other clinical interest areas include Differences of Sex Development and paediatric endocrine oncology.

Louise has served on Council of the Australia and New Zealand Society for Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (ANZSPED) since 2017 with roles of Secretary, President and currently the Immediate Past President. She has had leadership roles and membership within multiple Subcommittees and Working Groups.
