Get Set Mentoring Program

Get Set is an essential part of the University of Queensland student experience. Our flagship peer mentoring program supports new students as they transition to their studies and life at UQ in their first semester. Our dedicated peer mentors are there to guide and support during the first 6 weeks of each Semester by connecting their groups online, organising meet ups and answering questions. You can build meaningful connections, gain valuable insights into university life, and learn how to connect with all that UQ has to offer.

Applications are now open to become a peer mentor for 2025.

What new students at UQ will get out of the Get Set program

Having a peer mentor and joining a group will make your first Semester at UQ unforgettable. Here's why:

  • Meet other new students from your study area, have a blast, and make lifelong friends right from the start.

How it works

Once you submit your registration, you’ll be put in a specialised mentoring program based on your study area. From there you’ll be in a group of 8-15 other new students and given an experienced mentor, matched based on your study area, study type and campus.  You will be introduced to your group via our online mentoring platform and your student e-mail.

You will be able to attend weekly mentor-run group meet ups and connect with your mentor and peers online with some fun group activities & treats along the way!

Most of Get Set runs from Week 1 to Week 6 of every semester. Some study areas however have semester-long programs.
