Due to COVID-19, there will be no Healthy Relationships sessions run on campus for the remainder of the semester. Please check back regularly for updates.

Creating connections that thrive

Gain a deeper understanding into the experiences, ideas, values, beliefs and behaviours that influence the quality of relationships you have. The program takes place over 4 weeks and will provide you with the time to reflect on the relationship that you have, and the ones would like to have in the future. This program is free and open to all UQ students, of all genders, backgrounds and ages.

Disclaimer: The group is intended to be educational nature, and although we do share stories and touch on potentially triggering or sensitive topics, it is not intended to be a therapeutic or support group.

If you are currently experiencing violence (emotional, physical, sexual, psychological, and financial) in your relationship, please seek support through Student Services as soon possible.

Topics covered

Respect

  • Week 1 focuses on the start of any relationships: respect, boundary setting, cultural awareness and the differences between healthy and unhealthy relationships.

Successful Communication

  • Week 2 is all about successful communication, overcoming barriers to effective communication and learning the tools of negotiation and compromise.

The Language of Love

  • Week 3 is all about love! It explores what intimate relationships are, the 5 love languages, the journey of love - including consent, starting out, keeping the love alive, breaking up and moving on.

Conflict Resolution

  • Week 4 brings it all together with conflict resolution by looking at Gottam’s 4 horsemen of the apocalypse, conflict warning signs, managing conflict and how to sustain healthy relationships.
