About Me
Maria is a dedicated advocate for health, wellbeing, and social equity, with a strong focus on supporting culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities and women. As an Australia Awards Scholar from the Philippines, she brings a unique perspective shaped by her background in nuclear medicine, agripreneurship, and leadership in community-driven initiatives. Her work emphasizes the importance of body neutrality, self-care, and mental health awareness, particularly for students navigating cultural expectations and academic pressures.
Maria believes that true wellbeing goes beyond individual health. It requires inclusive support systems, diverse representation, and equitable access to resources. Through her experience leading grassroots projects on mental health, sustainability, and food security, she has seen firsthand how social and environmental factors impact overall wellness.
As a member of the UQ Wellbeing Student Advisory Group, she is committed to amplifying underrepresented voices and shaping initiatives that foster a healthier, more inclusive campus for all students.
