How UQ Connect Mentoring works

UQ Connect Mentoring supports Year 11 and 12 students who are on an ATAR pathway or considering university as a future option.

Welcome Event

The program begins with a Welcome Event held at a UQ campus. Students and their families are invited to:

  • Meet their mentor
  • Learn more about the program
  • Explore the UQ campus
  • Start building the connections that will support them throughout senior school

Parents and carers can also connect with each other and speak directly with the UQ Outreach team.

Ongoing mentoring support

Following the Welcome Event, students receive ongoing support throughout Years 11 and 12:

  • Mentors visit students at school for their first face‑to‑face mentoring session
  • Students and mentors work together to develop a personalised plan based on the student’s goals, interests and aspirations
  • Mentors maintain regular online check‑ins via phone call between school visits

The UQ Outreach team provides ongoing oversight to ensure students receive consistent, high‑quality support.

Benefits of UQ Connect Mentoring
