About Me

Hello! I’m Beata, a UQ Medical Student from Canada. I’m Chinese-Canadian (HK), and if I’m not attached to my laptop, you’ll find me either next to the oven making dough for another batch of bread, or out at a trail to catch a sunrise.

Coming all the way across the world to study is daunting, perhaps especially so when jumping into a culture that is different than your own. As someone who knows and lives this experience, I’m passionate about improving access to culturally-safe health and wellbeing services, as well as making care navigation processes easier and less burdensome for those who are linguistically-diverse or in the process of figuring out what services they really need. Of course, this is only possible if we listen to what students are saying, so I’m also always open to lending an ear or a hand to those who are still trying to find their footing and identity in the UQ community and beyond!

Languages I can manage: English, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin), French
