We are giving away FREE UQ Respect gift bags to everyone who completes the new online module, UQ Respect: Sexual Consent Ethical Bystanding, and Compassionate Response! Come and join us for a conversation with UQ’s Sean Tran. Sean is a 6th year law / commerce student at UQ. He is also President of the UQ Law Society and is a lived-experience speaker at Batyr. Through his role at Batyr, Sean attends workshops at various high schools and universities in QLD to speak about his mental health journey. Carers Week Discussion Circle
National Carers Week recognises and celebrates the outstanding contribution that unpaid carers make to our nation, and presents an opportunity to educate and raise awareness among all Australians about the diversity of carers and their caring roles.
Hosted by UQ Diversity, Disability and Inclusion and Counselling representatives, the UQ Carers Week discussion circles are an opportunity for our Carer’s community to get together and have a conversation, learn about what supports are available, share their experiences and talk about some ideas to help strengthen UQ with Carer support.

Mindfulness Meditation Practice
Meditation for all levels! Beginners welcome!
Mindfulness practices help you build up the capacity to maintain a steadiness in present-moment awareness. The benefits of Mindfulness come from the direct experience of practice, beginners often fall asleep, feel uncomfortable, struggle with difficult thoughts or emotions, and become bored or distracted. This session aims to support you in overcoming these common obstacles when beginning your mindfulness journey. 15 min will be offered at the end of the session for reflection on insights, experiences, or questions with an experienced meditator.

Live Webinar: Understanding the brain to treat depression
It is estimated that more than 30% of people do not respond to medicines to treat depression. This can leave people with limited treatment options and have a huge impact on their quality of life and their support networks. Join Queensland Brain Institute researchers Dr Susannah Tye, Dr Dhanisha Jhaveri and psychiatrist, and QBI researcher, Dr Philip Mosley as they discuss what is happening in the brains of people with depression, why medications don’t work for some people and alternative treatments for people with depression that don’t respond to medication.
