What is Volunteer Week?

UQ Volunteer Week (13 – 17 March 2023) inspires and empowers students and young people to rise-up and participate in their local communities, both within UQ and within the broader community.  

It celebrates these opportunities for personal and professional growth, providing learning and development opportunities for students to network on campus and increase their employability, whilst also forming new skills by connecting with UQ teams and external organisations at our Volunteer Expo.  

Within the UQ community, Volunteer Week is also an opportunity to recognise the students amongst us who currently participate in Volunteering, Mentoring and Student Representation teams throughout the year, thanking our student members for all they do.

This week of celebrations and activations connects students to volunteer opportunities at our Volunteer Expo, promotes the benefits of volunteering at UQ and provides development workshops to support volunteers’ personal growth throughout.

Meet all the movers and shakers at UQ and in the community and find ways in which you can get involved. We have a range of local not-for-profit organisations joining us in Student Central, the Expo marquee so don't miss out!

Our keynote speaker for the launch of Volunteer Week 2023 is an experienced entrepreneur, having started his first venture in high school. Finn has since gone on to create multiple businesses, win multiple start-up competitions as well as participating in a wide range of volunteer opportunities leading into his professional career.

Attend the UQ Volunteer Week Expo between 11am-2pm on Tuesday 14th March and take a UQ Volunteer Week Expo Passport card by 1:30pm to go into the prize draw.
