Uni Mental Health Day aims to raise awareness of the mental health and wellbeing needs of those who study and work in higher education settings across the globe. By bringing together our diverse University communities, Uni Mental Health Day acts as an opportunity to not just promote the mental health of our communities, but to ensure that it remains a university-wide priority by creating ongoing, year round change for the future of student mental health.
Originally developed in the UK, Uni Mental Health Day has been running in Australia for 7 years, and this year, UQ is joining the celebrations. We ask you to join us on Tuesday 5th May 2020 as we take the time to connect, inspire conversations, take action and create change.
This year, there is no set theme, but given the challenges that our world is currently facing with COVID-19 and the resulting physical distancing, we would like to encourage self-care and connection. We all know the importance of maintaining our mental health, and to keep an eye out for our friends and family. By taking care of ourselves, and connecting with others, we create safe places to share our stories and use our voices to help change attitudes towards mental illness.
Take a look at our jam-packed program and see what events and activities that you connect with. Join in, have fun, and help to create change this #unimentalhealthday.
