Myo Sumiko (Sumi)
About Me
Hi there, I’m Sumi. I am a third-year psychology and sociology student from Myanmar. As someone who moved to another continent with no friends or family at the peak of COVID-19, I have been through quite the challenge and learnt the hard way that wellbeing is essential to the functioning of a student. This is why I am happy to be a part of this group where I can advocate for my fellow students through my learnt experiences.
I have been involved in multiple areas of UQ including but not limited to volunteering experiences and being in multiple executive positions of Union collectives and Clubs & Societies. I have also been involved in staff-run groups that promotes diversity and cultural inclusivity such as the EAL/CALD Working Party and the Cultural Inclusion Council at UQ, where I was able to represent CALD students. I have also worked in four different departments of UQ and my knowledge of UQ is quite broad so I can most definitely direct you in the right direction should questions arise.
I may look permanently physically tired, but I am always happy to have a chat about any matters regarding international student support, UQ clubs and different areas of wellbeing. See you around!
