For many people it can feel uncomfortable talking about your reproductive health. This can be caused by a number of reasons, including cultural and social norms, family or religious values, beliefs and taboos.
In Australia, you have the right to access to accurate sexual and reproductive health information and services regardless of your age, marital status, gender, sexuality, and background.
To navigate these barriers around talking about your reproductive health, there are a number of ways you can learn more about your choices and options including:
- Speaking confidentially with a chosen medical professional/doctor
- Talking to a trusted friend/family member
- Searching privately online
Most importantly, it is important to recognise that seeking support early can help relieve stress and worry, and help improve your overall wellbeing by giving you more control over your health.
No taboo, there is support for you.
It is okay to talk about your reproductive health
About No Taboo, There Is Support For You Quick Exit
We often do not really think about our reproductive health until we need to. This can include learning about our own reproductive health and options, or learning about how we can support another person/partner around making an informed choice about their reproductive health.
No Taboo, there is support for you is a dedicated campaign to give you the tools to seek support in a way that works best for you. This campaign includes five (5) key frequently asked topics / questions that have come through consultation with UQ students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Take your time to look through this website and explore the information privately from your preferred device and consider further support where needed. There are ‘quick exit’ buttons available throughout this website if you need to quickly navigate away from the website for your privacy/safety.
This campaign has been developed by UQ Wellbeing.
